The 2024 RAP Impact Report shows the RAP program is expanding and many RAP organisations are deepening their impact through strong governance and accountability.  

Key results include a significant growth in procurement driven by an increase in contracts between RAP organisations and First Nations businesses, substantial increases in partnerships between First Nations businesses and organisations, and increased representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff at senior levels and on boards. 

Key findings from the 2024 RAP Impact Report include: 

  • $4,812,163,387 ($4.8 billion) worth of goods and services were procured by RAP organisations from First Nations-owned businesses. 
  • 733 First Nations people sat on RAP organisation boards (20+% increase). 
  • 740 First Nations people in RAP organisations were in executive leadership roles (20+% increase). 
  • 25,237 contracts were entered into between RAP organisations and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations (42% increase).

Every year the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Impact report measures the extraordinary impact that RAP organisations are creating for reconciliation.

This report collected data from 1,873 RAP organisations across the network for the July 2022 – June 2023 period.

The 2023 report found marked areas of improvement and collective success across the RAP network:

  • 5,404,826 people now work or study in an organisation with a RAP.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in leadership positions in RAP organisations increased to 574. 
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on Boards increased to 606.
  • 23,268 employees of RAP organisations participated in cultural immersion and 118,049 in face-to-face cultural learning.
  • 18,588 formal and informal partnerships between RAP organisations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.

Every year the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Impact report measures the extraordinary impact that organisations with RAPs are having across the country.

The report collected data from 1,428 RAP organisations across the network for the July 2021 – June 2022 period.

The 2022 report found marked successes and areas for increased focus in the network, including: 

  • 3,743,939 people work or study in an organisation with a RAP.
  • An increase of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in leadership positions, as well as the growth in partnerships between RAP organisations and First Nations organisations.
  • There was a sustained increase in employment and procurement opportunities across the RAP network.
  • Participation in cultural immersion and face-to-face cultural learning experiences increased to above pre-pandemic levels.

Summary

The 2021 RAP Impact report marks 15 years of of the RAP program, demonstrating how far we have come.

Reporting on information drawn from our RAP Impact Measurement Questionnaire, collected  from 1,134 RAP organisations, the 2021 RAP Impact report sets out to demonstrate the extraordinary impact of the RAP network’s activity in the 2021 financial year.

For the first time, this report includes results from the Leadership Survey; a new research tool that takes a snapshot of perceptions and attitudes on reconciliation within Stretch and Elevate RAP partners. Surveying 8,192 employees from 24 organisations, the pilot Leadership Survey sets the benchmark for continued study on the partners at the forefront of the RAP network.

Findings include: 

  • Close to 4 million people now either work or study in a RAP organisation
  • Over $2 billion worth of goods and services spent with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses
  • 88 per cent of employees in Stretch and Elevate organisations believe their organisation has a clear public stance against racism
  • 47 per cent of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in Stretch and Elevate organisations believe their workplace is welcoming and respectful for new First Nations employees

Summary

The 2020 RAP Impact Report combines data collected from the compulsory reporting required of RAP organisations with the results of the Workplace RAP Barometer survey, showing the tangible, positive and sustained effect the RAP program has had on advancing reconciliation in 2019-20.

The report shows:

  • Close to 3 million Australians now work or study within an organisation that has an active RAP and close to another 3 million are members of organisations which have RAPs, such as sporting clubs.
  • $49,155,196 donated to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations
  • 300,000 RAP employees participated in cultural learning
  • 63,973 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff are employed in RAP organisations
  • $2,086,255,726 procured from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses


More than 1,100 organisations—large, small, private sector, public and NGOs—have joined us to develop a RAP tailored to their own work, people and needs.

The RAP program unites them all and gives them a set of shared values and goals.

  • 41,186 Aboriginal and Torres Strait  Islander people were employed by an organisation with a RAP
  • $29,063,861 in pro bono support was provided  to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander  individuals, organisations, and communities

Each year over 100 new organisations join the RAP program, making commitments to advance reconciliation within their sphere of influence.

The report shows employees in RAP organisations have:

  • Higher trust
    77% of employees in RAP organisations  have high trust for Aboriginal and Torres  Strait Islander peoples, compared with  24% of the broader Australian community
    Pride in Aboriginal and Torres  Strait Islander cultures
  • 77% of employees in RAP organisations  are proud of Aboriginal and Torres Strait  Islander cultures, compared with 60% of  the broader Australian community
  • Value Australia’s cultural diversity
    82% of employees in RAP organisations  agree that Australia is better off with many  different races and cultures, compared with 66% of the broader Australian  community .
