Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy – an overview

Polarity Therapy is the art and science of balancing the subtle, natural energies that create and maintain our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Polarity Therapy works on the whole body, on all levels and with all systems. Polarity Therapy is a valuable aid in the return to wholeness and well-being

“A human being is a part of the whole that we call the universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourself, our thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical illusion of our consciousness. This illusion is a prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for only the few people nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living beings and all of nature.” Albert Einstein

Features of Polarity Therapy

Communication

Good health encompasses positive thoughts and feelings about ourselves – as we think, so we are. Polarity Therapy seeks to heal the physical and energetic body. Incorporated in this is an increased self-awareness and understanding of our feelings, motivations and thinking. Discussion is an important aspect of each session.

Diet and nutrition

Polarity Therapy incorporates discussion and guidance about healthy eating and drinking based on understandings about the natural vitality of foods and liquids.

Polarity Therapy Yoga

Polarity Therapy includes demonstrations of simple yoga postures and exercise. We also incorporate demonstration and practice in exercises from other energy disciplines including the Five Tibetans and Qi Gong.

What happens in a Polarity Therapy session?

Each session is designed to provide relaxation, improve health, reduce pain and discomfort and promote awareness and understanding. A bodywork session usually lasts for an hour and a half. In this session the therapist will use a range of gentle positions and movements designed to relax the body but at the same time move and balance energies. Polarity Therapy clients experience many different reactions during sessions. Deep relaxation and feelings of well-being are the most common responses.

When should Polarity Therapy be used?

There are times in our lives when we do not feel well and seem unable to cope. Our bodies seem to let us down with pain, illness and stress, or our minds may be strained with emotions and unwanted thought patterns. When life becomes difficult it is important to look for help. Polarity Therapy is a natural and complementary approach to health care and can be used for a wide range of conditions. Benefits of Polarity Therapy may include:

  • Profound relaxation for resolution of anxiety, pain and/or tension
  • New awareness and insights into energetic patterns and their implications
  • A strengthened immune system
  • Better circulation
  • Deeper breathing
