Syntivity

Syntivity is about consciousness and change. We Synthesise our experience using our Creativity to grow our consciousness.

The meaning and experience of Syntivity is constantly evolving. Mindfulness is a fundamental aspect of Syntivity. Mindfulness in breathing, thinking, learning, eating, sleeping – all aspects of our being. We create this experience and our awareness of it. Metacognition, our disposition, our questioning and our skills are tools or processes to engage in Syntivity.

Metacognition is an active awareness about what we are doing. We can observe ourselves. Become the Observer of our lives. We need to be aware of our state-of-being to understand, control and improve our focus. Metacognition is an aspect of Mindfulness.

Disposition is how we feel during our thinking, learning and doing. We need to develop and use strategies to maintain a positive awareness of our disposition during active thinking, learning and doing. Our emotions and the feelings that accompany them are signposts to guide our awareness and learning. Experiencing emotions and feelings are a wonderful aspect of our human-ness. We welcome our feelings and become aware of the experiences and learning they provide. And we learn to follow their guidance.

Questioning is the process we use to engage our minds in learning and understanding. Actively questioning our thinking, learning and doing ensures maximum awareness and the capability to remain actively creative.

Skills are the specific strategies or practices we can use to develop our metacognition, disposition and questioning abilities … and the specific skills associated with any activity we want to maintain or improve. There are a range of specific skills we can use to maintain our syntivity. Feeling and watching our breathing is a skill we can practise. Meditating using our breath is a skill we can practise. Listening actively to our brothers and sisters in life is a skill. We can practise forms and become more skilled with, for example, Tai Chi or Yoga.
